SecurityNexus Announces Availability of Industry's Most Comprehensive Security Signature Mapping Capability

Signature Mapping Marries Attack Identifiers with
Vulnerability Names and References to Patch Information

PALM BAY, FL -- November 20, 2003 -- SecurityNexus, LLC today announced the availability of the information security industry's most comprehensive Security Signature Mapping capability.  A collection of over 32,000 distinct attack and vulnerability signatures, the SecurityNexus Signature Map allows customers to link the security data from their intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, firewall, and other "detective" systems to the report outputs from leading vulnerability scanning tools as well as industry-standard vulnerability knowledge bases.  This capability allows information security teams to maximize the usefulness of their existing information security infrastructure.

"With the SecurityNexus Signature Map, security personnel no longer have to manually analyze individual reports from each of their security products to determine the overall threat and risk levels their organization is experiencing," said Chris Wilson, CEO of SecurityNexus.  "Our comprehensive signature mapping capabilities allow customers to link directly from their IDS event names to their reported vulnerabilities, giving immediate identification of attacks against known vulnerabilities. Our signature mapping separates the wheat from the chaff, and allows already overburdened security personnel to focus on the most critical threats in their organization.   With that information in hand, we also give the security administrators reference linkage to the industry's most popular vulnerability databases, where they can obtain patch information to repair their vulnerable systems."

Currently the SecurityNexus Signature Map contains over 32,000 distinct entries from nearly 20 different industry leading products and data sources.  These sources include the most popular intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), as well as firewalls and vulnerability assessment (scanning) tools.  In addition, the Signature Map gives reference linkage to the security industry's most popular vulnerability knowledge bases to allow users to quickly locate additional information that can aid in the security incident response process.  The company is rapidly adding even more sources to its data set, and plans to expand into operating system and application-level security signatures as well.

Weekly updates to the SecurityNexus Signature Map are delivered through an automated download mechanism to eliminate administrative headache.  The data set can be imported into any ODBC-compliant database for use in cohesive security reporting and analysis activities using industry standard tools.  Standard report templates are included with the Signature Map.

Key features of the SecurityNexus Signature Map include:
  • Provides standardized security signatures for industry-leading security products
  • Can be imported into any OBDC-compliant database for use with existing organizational standard reporting suites
  • Weekly updates are delivered electronically and automatically to ensure optimum reporting and security threat analysis
  • Largest signature map in the industry with over 32,000 signatures
  • Library of standard reporting templates is included
